Airtel Africa Plc has announced the upcoming retirement of its Senior Independent Non-Executive Director, Andrew Green, effective January 29, 2026, according to a disclosure filed with the Nigerian Exchange (NGX).
Green’s departure marks the end of over six years of service on the company’s board, a tenure the Board of Directors acknowledged with deep appreciation for his contributions.
Following his retirement, Tsega Gebreyes will assume the position of Senior Independent Non-Executive Director. Gebreyes, who joined the board on October 12, 2021, currently serves as Chair of the Remuneration Committee and as a member of the Nominations Committee. She will retain her current roles until January 29, 2026, when the transition takes effect.
As part of the leadership reshuffle, Cynthia Gordon has been appointed to take over as Chair of the Remuneration Committee.
Commenting on the development, Sunil Bharti Mittal, Chair of Airtel Africa, praised Green for his dedicated service, describing him as “a leader whose vision, integrity, and deep industry knowledge have made a lasting impact on the company.”
The board expressed confidence that the leadership transition will further strengthen governance and continuity within the organisation as Airtel Africa continues to expand its footprint across the continent.
