MultiChoice Nigeria Appoints Kemi Omotosho as New CEO

MultiChoice Nigeria has announced the appointment of Kemi Omotosho as its new Chief Executive Officer, following the retirement of John Ugbe.

The company disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday, noting that Omotosho’s appointment will take effect from January 2026.

Ugbe is set to step down after nearly 15 years at the helm of the pay-TV company, a period during which he steered the business through significant industry and market changes.

Omotosho brings over two decades of experience spanning media, telecommunications, and digital services across Nigeria and sub-Saharan Africa.

She has previously held several senior roles within the MultiChoice Group, including Executive Head of Customer Value Management in Nigeria and Group Executive Head of Customer Value Management for the Rest of Africa.

Most recently, Omotosho served as Regional Director for Southern Africa, where she had full responsibility for operations across seven countries.

Commenting on her appointment, Omotosho described Nigeria as a strategic and dynamic market and expressed optimism about leading the company into its next phase.

“It is a privilege to be entrusted with the leadership of MultiChoice Nigeria at this important moment. Nigeria remains one of the Group’s most strategic and dynamic markets,” she said.

“I look forward to working with our teams and partners to deepen our relationship with consumers, champion local storytelling and the creative economy, as well as build a future-ready organisation that delivers sustainable value,” she added.

The company noted that Ugbe’s retirement and Omotosho’s appointment followed a structured transition process designed to ensure business continuity and organisational stability.
