Dangote Cement Inducts Nearly 200 Graduates into Workforce After 18-Month Training Programme

Dangote Cement Plc has inducted nearly 200 newly trained engineers and professionals into its workforce following the successful completion of its 18-month Graduate Trainee Programme.

The trainees, drawn from engineering, finance, information technology and other disciplines, underwent a structured development process that combined classroom learning at the Dangote Academy with hands-on operational experience across the company’s four cement plants and its head office.

In a statement, the company said many of the graduates have already been integrated into its operations in Nigeria and other African countries, positioning them for long-term leadership roles within the Dangote Cement Group.

Speaking at the induction ceremony, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mr Arvind Pathak, said the event was organised to celebrate both the newly inducted graduates and long-serving employees who have contributed to the company’s sustained growth.

“Despite the economic turbulence, your resilience and tenacity enabled us to overcome numerous challenges and achieve our objectives,” Pathak said. He added that Dangote Cement recorded a strong performance in 2025, despite operating in a challenging economic environment.

Pathak noted that Dangote Cement remains Africa’s leading cement producer and is working towards a production capacity of 90 million metric tonnes per annum by 2030. He added that the company has successfully transformed Nigeria into a net exporter of cement to neighbouring countries.

Also speaking, the Acting Group Human Resources Officer, Mr Ahmed Ladan Gobir, described the Graduate Trainee Programme as a strategic investment in Nigeria’s youth and future workforce.

“Nigeria’s greatest asset is its young people, and we are deliberate about empowering them with world-class skills and deep industry exposure,” Gobir said.

In addition to the graduate induction, Dangote Cement honoured staff members with Long Service and Hall of Fame awards. The recognition was given to employees who have served the company for at least five years and demonstrated consistent excellence and leadership.

The company also recognised four graduate trainees for exceptional performance during the programme. Their projects covered areas such as plant optimisation, equipment alignment and the installation of management information systems at the Obajana and Okpella cement plants.
