The Federal Government has pledged to collaborate with players in Nigeria’s fashion industry, particularly the embroidery sector, as part of efforts to stimulate economic growth and create job opportunities.
This commitment was made by Dr. Ayinde Adamson, Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Industrial Training and Development, during a meeting with leading embroidery professionals in Abuja, led by Lukman Abdulsalam.
Dr. Adamson reaffirmed the government’s commitment to youth empowerment through industrial training, stating that developing vocational skills like embroidery can play a vital role in addressing unemployment and boosting the nation’s GDP.
On his part, Abdulsalam encouraged young Nigerians to embrace embroidery as both a creative outlet and a pathway to self-reliance. He emphasized the sector’s ability to contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) while promoting cultural heritage through unique bespoke designs.
“Embroidery offers Nigeria a global competitive edge in bespoke fashion. With government backing, investment in innovation, and market expansion, the sector can unlock massive job creation,” Abdulsalam noted.
He also highlighted a new partnership with FUTONG, a Chinese firm, aimed at expanding training opportunities for Nigerian youth and promoting local talent on international platforms.
