Wema Bank has reaffirmed its commitment to deepening digital engagement and financial inclusion as it marks the ninth anniversary of its flagship digital platform, ALAT.

Launched in 2017 as Africa’s first fully digital bank, ALAT has grown into a core driver of Wema Bank’s innovation strategy, expanding access to financial services and improving customer experience across Nigeria.

Speaking at the anniversary launch, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Wema Bank, Moruf Oseni, described the milestone as both a reflection of progress and a signal of future ambition.

“ALAT at 9 is not just a celebration of time; it is a reflection of how far we have come and a clear indication of where we are going,” Oseni said, adding that the platform continues to evolve with customer needs.

He noted that the anniversary campaign is designed to reward users while reinforcing the bank’s commitment to innovation and improved customer experience.

The celebration is being driven by the “ALAT at 9” campaign, a month-long engagement initiative featuring interactive activities, personalised experiences, and reward-based incentives.

According to the Chief Digital Officer of Wema Bank, Olusegun Adeniyi, the bank is shifting beyond traditional banking models to create a more dynamic and responsive digital ecosystem.

“With ALAT at 9, we are transforming routine banking into an interactive experience,” Adeniyi said, explaining that the platform combines personalised insights with gamified missions to enhance user participation.

As part of the campaign, the bank introduced “ALAT Wrapped,” a feature that gives customers a personalised summary of their transaction history and usage patterns.

It also unveiled the “9 Features in 9 Days” challenge, encouraging users to explore different tools and services within the platform.

In addition, customers who complete their ninth transaction at exactly 9:00 a.m. or 9:00 p.m. during the campaign period will receive instant rewards, the bank confirmed.

Wema Bank said these initiatives are designed to reinforce ALAT’s position as a leading digital banking platform while strengthening customer loyalty and engagement.

The bank added that the campaign reflects its broader strategy of driving financial inclusion through technology-driven solutions that are intuitive, adaptive, and customer-focused.
