The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has reported a sharp increase in revenue and profit for April 2026, reflecting improved operational performance and stronger crude oil production.
According to the company’s April 2026 operational and financial report released on Saturday, revenue rose to N4.97tn in April from N2.77tn recorded in March. This represents a month-on-month increase of about 79 per cent.
Profit after tax also recorded significant growth. The company posted N481bn in April, compared to N276bn in March. This marks an increase of approximately 74 per cent within one month.
The report further showed that NNPC remitted a total of N3.71tn in statutory payments to the Federal Government between January and April 2026. This figure exceeds the N2.89tn remitted during the first quarter of the year.
Crude oil and condensate production improved during the period under review. Output increased to 1.68 million barrels per day in April, up from 1.56 million barrels per day recorded in March. The increase signals a modest recovery in upstream operations.
Natural gas production remained stable at 7.7 billion standard cubic feet per day. Gas sales averaged 4.65 billion standard cubic feet per day, while upstream pipeline availability stood at 79 per cent.
NNPC also recorded progress on critical gas infrastructure projects. The company announced the successful crossing of the OB3 River Niger pipeline segment, describing it as a major milestone for Nigeria’s gas infrastructure development.
Work also continued on the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano gas pipeline project, which is expected to strengthen domestic gas distribution and support industrial growth across the country.
Despite the positive developments, the company highlighted some operational challenges. It noted that the start-up of the Trans Ramos Pipeline was delayed due to leak detection concerns and facility integrity issues.
Meanwhile, the NNPC Foundation sustained its corporate social responsibility activities during the month. On April 29, the foundation commissioned three fully rehabilitated hospital wards with a combined capacity of 102 beds at the National Orthopaedic Hospital in Lagos.
The foundation also provided humanitarian assistance to flood victims in Mokwa, Niger State. In addition, it trained 72,657 members of the National Youth Service Corps in basic financial literacy during April.
The latest figures underscore NNPC’s improved financial performance and continued investment in strategic infrastructure projects aimed at supporting Nigeria’s energy and economic development goals.
